Expertise

Alev practices in the firm’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution team with a particular focus on employment law, complex contractual disputes and personal and corporate insolvency.

Alev is a tenacious litigator with experience in leading complex litigation with meticulous attention to detail and an unwavering work ethic. She is known for providing clear, practical and accessible legal advice to clients in order to achieve their desired strategic outcomes.

Prior to joining SBA Law, Alev was an associate in the Supreme Court of Victoria and then joined a boutique commercial litigation practice where she specialised in personal and corporate insolvency.

Education

Alev holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) from the University of Melbourne. Alev also holds an Advanced Certificate of Insolvency from the Australian Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association.

Experience

Alev’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution experience includes:

  • Advising a leading global construction software provider in respect of claims made by its former CEO, including under the Fair Work Act.
  • Advising a global supply chain leader in a dispute arising from a share sale and purchase agreement.
  • Obtained and executed an Anton Piller order from the Supreme Court of New South Wales against former employees of a major Australian workwear retailer.
  • Obtained final orders for compensation and restraint of former employees, including for a major Australian workwear retailer and a leading provider of integrated financial advisory and accounting services.
  • Obtained a favourable resolution of a complex construction/rectification of lease dispute in the Supreme Court of Queensland for a national apartment hotel franchisor.
  • Advised a secured creditor of a well-known auction house in administration regarding its opposition to expenses incurred by the administrator in respect of the identification, preservation and distribution of the consignor property.
  • Conducted examinations of known tax frauds and identified assets and causes of action for recovery on behalf of trustees of a bankrupt estate.
  • Obtained orders extending the convening period in the Supreme Court of Victoria on behalf of liquidators.
  • Issued an unfair preference claim against the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation in the Supreme Court of Victoria and negotiated full amount of the claim, plus payment of all the liquidator’s costs.
  • Negotiated the sale of a business in administration on behalf of administrators, including negotiating with various stakeholders and entering into a deed of company arrangement.
