Expertise

Lydia practices in the firm’s commercial litigation and dispute resolution team. She assists on a range of commercial disputes, with a particular focus on contract and lease disputes. Lydia has experience in all Victorian jurisdictions as well as in the Federal Court of Australia, and the NSW Supreme Court.

Prior to joining SBA, Lydia worked in both tax disputes and commercial litigation teams within international law firms defending multibillion dollar tax disputes against multinational companies, class actions against banks, and pursuing high profile disputes with national and foreign government bodies.

Education

Lydia holds a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Arts, and a Masters in Taxation Studies (MTaxS) from the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

Experience

Lydia’s recent litigation cases include:

  • Involved in defence of dispute between pharmaceutical IT joint venturers regarding contractual and implied obligations, and misleading and deceptive conduct allegations heard in the Supreme Court of Victoria.
  • Involved in defence of claims made against a property developer for alleged misleading or deceptive conduct in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, ultimately achieving settlement.
  • Involved in defence of partnership dispute regarding contractual obligations and fiduciary duties in the County Court of Victoria, ultimately achieving settlement.
